The Technical advice from law School from National Autonomous University of Mexico (ONE) agreed this Friday to dismiss Professor Raul Eduardo Lopez Betancourt as a member of that collegiate body and in his capacity as dean of the same.
“For this reason, Raúl Eduardo López Betancourt has ceased to serve as president of the University Court of this house of studies,” said the Maximum House of Studies it’s a statement.
During the session of Technical advice the teacher was guaranteed an audience Lopez Betancourtwho spoke for an hour.
“In the end, the agreement was approved by a large majority, with only one vote against,” added the institution.
In the same session, Professor Everardo Moreno Cruz protested as Dean of the Technical advice of that faculty and will be, in accordance with university legislation, who will soon assume the presidency of the University Court.
As a precautionary measure and without ignoring the principle of presumption of innocence of Lopez Betancourtas well as to safeguard the physical and psychological safety of the student Heavy “N”the Technical Council also agreed to the provisional suspension of the professor’s teaching activities.
Article 99 of the General Statute of the UNAM states that the presidency of the University Court is occupied by the dean professor of the Technical Council of the Faculty of Law.
On February 24, after a 16-hour hearing, Judge Gustavo Aquiles decided to link the president of the University Courtaccused of aggravated sexual harassment of a student of the aforementioned faculty.
The magistrate saw enough evidence to continue the investigation against the senior official.
However, he dismissed the accusation of cruel and degrading treatment that was also requested by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
The accused follows the rest of the process from his home, with the only precautionary measure of not communicating or approaching the victim, a restriction that he has voluntarily accepted.
