Egyptian Finance: More than $8 billion total value of goods released since last March

Egypt – The Egyptian government is working on the immediate customs release of basic goods and production requirements that directly support the industry.

The total value of the goods released since the beginning of last March until now amounts to more than $8 billion.
Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait explained that this comes in line with the government’s goal of increasing the volume of commodity supply in the markets, in a way that helps achieve a balance in prices, within the framework of the state’s keenness to work continuously to reduce the living burdens on citizens as much as possible.

Pointing out that there is permanent coordination between customs men and representatives of the concerned authorities, including the General Authority for Export and Import Control, the National Authority for Food Safety, Agricultural Quarantine and Quarantine, and other inspection authorities, to speed up procedures for the immediate release of goods and merchandise at various ports.

Taking into account that priority is given to basic commodities, food, medicines, feed, and production requirements.

For his part, the head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, Al-Shahat Ghatouri, said that the newly developed electronic systems help accelerate the pace of customs release of goods and goods and their entry into local markets and production units.

He explained that work is going on around the clock at customs ports with various concerned authorities, to ensure the speedy completion of procedures for the immediate release of goods.
