Harvey Elliott has extended his association with Liverpool, the English Premier League runner-up, with a “long-term” contract, which makes the 19-year-old a candidate, to be one of the familiar faces this season in German coach Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Elliott played a key role in three of the first four matches that Liverpool played last season in the Premier League, but he broke and dislocated his ankle during a match against Leeds United, which led to him out of action for five months.
But the young midfielder has fully recovered and participated as a substitute in the two matches that Liverpool have played so far at the start of the new season, whether against Manchester City in the Community Shield match, or against his former team Fulham in the first stage of the Premier League.
It was reported that the new contract would keep Elliot at Liverpool until 2027.
Elliott told the club’s website: “It’s always good to know that I will be here for many years, which is always great because (Liverpool) is my childhood club.”
“There is nothing in the world that makes me happier and more excited than this,” he added.
In total, Elliott has participated in 22 games with the team since his arrival at “Anfield” in the summer of 2019.
