105 years after the murder of Emiliano Zapata, the candidate of the Morena party for District XII of Pachuca, Tania Meza Escorza recognized that in addition to being a hero in the history of Mexico, he is one of the great emblems of the Fourth Transformation of life public of the country.

“Not only was he an extraordinary man for what he achieved in his time and space, but for what he symbolized over the years; He represented the poorest, the forgotten, the monolingual indigenous people enslaved by the owners of the haciendas. After the Revolution, he has been the symbol of the most dispossessed people, whom Eduardo Galeano called ‘the nobodys’.”

The Morenista commented that Zapata is a guide of the 4T, since although its main precepts – “Land and freedom” and “The land belongs to those who work it” – have not yet been achieved 100 percent, as public servants Demands for justice must be met under the revolutionary ideals of equality.

Likewise, he recalled that the government of those years launched a smear campaign against the Caudillo of the South, supported by the official press that celebrated his assassination by referring to him as “the beastman”, “the Attila of the South” or as “the heartless man who ate human flesh.”

However, Meza Escorza said, the population never believed such stories against him and only 12 years after his murder, the Congress of the Union of our country decreed to publish his name in gold letters.

“The strength of this man did not stop with his murder because of the great power he had in the mobilization of people who were at the bottom of the pyramid of access to opportunities, Chief Zapata had a revolutionary thought that represented a danger to the owners. of power and the rulers of those years.”

“And as our president Andrés Manuel López Obrador has declared, national heroes, like Zapata, must be the example to follow in the daily actions of each public servant,” concluded Tania Meza.

Emiliano Zapata was born in 1879 in Anenecuilco, Morelos; His interest and leadership in land defense led him to be named president of the Anenecuilco Land Defense Board in 1909.

Once the Revolution began, he became involved in the Maderista movement attracted by the San Luis Plan, but when this triumphed, Zapata refused to lay down his arms until the land distribution was completed. By 1911 he proclaimed the Ayala Plan and ignored the Madero government, considering that he had betrayed the peasant cause.

He founded and led the Southern Liberation Army, a revolutionary army made up of peasants and indigenous people; He dedicated himself to fighting landownership and undertaking the distribution of land. On April 10, 1919, Emiliano Zapata was murdered on the Chinameca hacienda, Morelos as a result of a ruse erected by Colonel Jesús Guajardo.
