Manchester, June 13 (WAM) – Manchester City announced today that it has completed the signing of the 21-year-old Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland, to join the team, starting from the first of next July, on a five-year contract.
Halland signed his transfer contract to Manchester City until 2027, after a distinguished career with Red Bull Salzburg of Austria and Borussia Dortmund of Germany.
Haaland scored 86 goals in 89 matches with Dortmund over the course of two and a half seasons, and was crowned with the team with the German Cup title. He also won the title of best player in the German League / Bundesliga / season 2020/21.
Halland expressed his pride in moving to Manchester City, noting that he had always wanted to move to him. In statements published on the English club’s website today, the player said: “This is a proud day for me and my family.”
Haaland explained: “I’ve always followed Manchester City with passion and what they have done in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play. It’s an exciting style of play where they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.”
He added, “There are a lot of world class players in this team, and Josep Guardiola is one of the greatest coaches ever. I see that I am in the right place to achieve my ambitions.. I want to score goals, win titles and improve as a footballer.”

The Haaland family shares an ancient bond with Manchester City; Alfie Haaland, Erling’s father, was captain of the team at the turn of the century.
