Emirates News Agency – The College of Computing and Informatics at the University of Sharjah holds its Advisory Council

SHARJAH, 16th December, WAM, The College of Computing and Informatics at the University of Sharjah held its Advisory Council meeting for the academic year 2022-2023, chaired by Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah, in the presence of Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, Director of the University of Sharjah, and Dr. Youssef Al Hayek, Vice Chancellor for Affairs. Academic and Dr. Salah Taher Al-Hajj, Vice President for Community Affairs, and Dr. Abbas Amira, Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics.

Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan bin Khalid Al Qasimi stressed the importance of focusing on employing the skills of graduate students in line with the requirements of the labor market and supporting the college’s strategy, goals and directions towards joint applied research, in addition to discussing opportunities and challenges and the role of the private sector in supporting graduates and employing them. He thanked the members of the Council.

For his part, Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi stressed the importance of suggestions and opinions that will be discussed during the meeting, which would contribute to the development and strengthening of work in the College of Computing and Informatics. Various projects in cooperation with all sectors in the country and in accordance with the university’s strategic plan.

For his part, Dr. Abbas Amira gave an overview of the college’s achievements during the past academic year. He also presented a summary of the academic programs offered by the college and performance evaluation indicators according to the strategic plan of the college and the university. He referred to the conferences, seminars and scientific workshops organized and participated in by the college, faculty members and students, and future plans. The college that is studying has the possibility of offering modern and interdisciplinary programs.

The meeting discussed many important topics, including linking performance indicators of the college and university to society, enhancing cooperation and support provided by government and private institutions, the possibility of submitting proposals for new research topics related to the labor market, studying joint programs in cooperation with local and international institutions, and practical training for students in cooperation with sponsors.

It is noteworthy that the advisory board of the College of Computing and Informatics includes in its membership Dr. Bushra Al-Balushi, Deputy Director of the Information Services Department of the Dubai Electronic Security Center, Fathi Jabr Afana, CEO of Fast Building Contracting Company, Amin Al-Zarouni, General Manager of Beidou Company, and Eng. Wael Morsi Abdel Aziz, Director of the Education Sector in the region. Gulf with Amazon Web Services, Hemant Yolka, global technology executive at Emirates NBD Bank, and Abdullah Hashem, CEO of Etisalat Services Holding Company.
