The situation at the Zaporozhye NPP remains serious, but the water level is sufficient to cool the reactors. This was announced on June 15 during a visit to ZNPP by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi.

The head of the IAEA also expressed the hope that the Zaporizhzhya NPP will operate at full capacity, but first “the hostilities must be stopped”, transmits RIA Novosti.
According to Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev, Grossi was primarily interested in the events around the Kakhovskaya HPP. The head of the commission examined the spray pools, the cooling pond and both channels – make-up and discharge. Formerly Grossi declaredthat the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant in the future may adversely affect the Zaporizhzhya NPP, namely, deprive it of cooling sources and provoke damage to the reactors. The head of the IAEA specified that the agency is monitoring the decline in water levels in the Kakhovka reservoir in order to avoid an environmental catastrophe. According to him, if the water level in the nuclear power plant cooling tank falls below 12.7 meters, then it will be impossible to pump it.
In turn, Likhachev declaredthat employees of the Zaporizhzhya NPP are prepared for a possible loss of cooling water.
Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper. The facility came under full control of Russia in March 2022. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and is located in Energodar. The first power unit was put into operation in December 1984, the sixth – in October 1995.
