Taking advantage of the failure of the 3rd link project, Éric Duhaime sent a letter on Saturday to the elected CAQ members of the Greater Quebec City region in the hope of convincing at least one of them to join the ranks of the Conservative Party of Quebec ( PCQ).

“Faced with the betrayal of Mr. Legault, you now have only two solutions: submit to the party line or honor the trust of your voters,” wrote the party leader in a missive sent to 14 elected officials from the regions of the region. Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches.

Only the ministers Éric Caire and Geneviève Guilbault did not receive this shipment.

The PCQ explained the exclusion of the Minister of Digital and Cybersecurity, yet a fervent defender of the 3rd link, with a simple statement. “We simply don’t want a man like Éric Caire on our team,” said Éric Duhaime’s press attaché, Cédric Lapointe, in a message sent to the QMI agency.

For her part, the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility was excluded since she is piloting the new project, a tunnel intended solely for public transport.

“If you choose to stand up, I am reaching out to you and inviting you to talk to me, to get to know us better, to see if the compatibility between us can go beyond a 3rd motorway link”, launched Mr. Duhaime to elected officials.

The latter hopes to finally be able to have access to the National Assembly, he who was unable to elect a deputy during the last provincial elections.

“Let’s assess together if there is a way to reduce the current democratic distortion, to make the National Assembly more representative of the Quebec reality, more respectful of the choices of citizens, especially in our region,” said the leader of the PCQ. .

Remember that the 3rd link was part of the CAQ’s election promises during the last provincial elections. The failure of the project thus shook the confidence of the voters of the region who gave a strong mandate to the Legault government to carry out this project.

“Everyone has understood that the reasons given to justify this spectacular decline do not hold water,” denounced the former radio host.

If Éric Duhaime succeeds in recruiting a grumbling elected caquiste, he could hold press briefings inside the National Assembly, benefit from an office within this institution, in addition to being able to participate in camera sessions.

These are privileges he obtained when former MP Claire Samson joined the Conservative ranks.
