Ericsson cuts workforce | SVT News

The company announces a proposed staff reduction in Sweden to “meet the reduced volumes”.

1,200 employees in Sweden will be affected, the company writes in the press release.

– The mobile network market is challenging and in order to meet the declining volumes, we have announced a proposed staff reduction in Sweden, says Ericsson’s press manager Ralf Bagner.

In addition to reducing staff, Ericsson will reduce costs in several areas, including a reduced number of consultants and fewer offices.

Negotiations with the union

The company has begun negotiations with the unions Unionen, Sveriges Ingenjörer, Ledarna and IF Metall.

– The negotiations must be done at their own pace, and carried out in a respectful manner, says Ericsson’s press manager Ralf Bagner.

Ericsson does not have further details regarding who in the organization will be affected by the downsizing.

– I cannot share further details until the negotiations are complete, neither geographically nor who will be affected, he says and continues:

– It will take the time it takes.

“The move is part of existing global initiatives to reduce costs while Ericsson maintains investments that are important to the company’s technology leadership. Measures to increase operational efficiency will continue in 2024 but will not be announced separately,” writes Ericsson in the press release.
