European stocks fell at the end of the session, led by losses in the technology sector

European stocks ended Wednesday’s trading session lower, except for the British FTSE, as investors continue to assess the prospects for reopening the Chinese economy and potential headwinds in 2023.

At the end of the session, the STOXX600 index fell by 0.13% to 427 points, while the German DAX fell by 0.5%, recording 13925 points.

The French CAC index declined by 0.61%, to record 6,510 points, while the British FTSE rose by 0.32%, to 7,497 points.

Technology sector stocks fell by 0.9%.

And China announced that it intends to cancel the quarantine for those coming from abroad, starting from the eighth of January.

With only two trading sessions left in 2022, the markets are heading to record sharp annual losses, as central banks tended this year to tighten monetary policy amid a significant rise in inflation, in addition to the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
