European Union to facilitate visa for Saudis

The European Union intends to announce soon a new system to facilitate the granting of visas to Saudi citizens, revealed Patrick Simonet, the European Union’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

Simone confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat that the European Union is working in parallel on a system to exempt all citizens of the Gulf countries from visas, including Saudi Arabia, expressing his optimism that the Saudis will soon be able to visit Europe without a visa.

The European statements come regarding three weeks following Britain announced an electronic exemption for Saudi citizens wishing to visit Britain, and obtain it only 24 hours before travel.

Simone reiterated that “Europe was and still welcomes tourists from Saudi Arabia.”
