A foreigner – a member of a spiral that was active in deceiving citizens, under the pretext of a surgical operation in which their relative would undergo – was arrested by the Greek Police.
As it became known, the perpetrators called by phone the two patients pretending to be doctors and under the pretext that their relative needed immediate surgery, demanded sums of money for the provision of their services, persuading them to collect money, gold pounds and jewels and then deliver them to their accomplices.
After an organized operation, they were discovered by the Orestiada Security Directorate two cases of fraud, committed on March 14 and 19, 2024, in areas of Evros.
Specifically, at noon on Tuesday (19/3) a foreigner was arrested in Orestiada, who had taken a sum of money from an elderly woman, which was returned to its owner.
A case file was filed against her for the offenses of forming and participating in a criminal organization and fraud, while the relevant case file also includes her unknown accomplices who are wanted.
Furthermore, as was established on March 14 in a settlement of Evros, the above foreigner was dispatched under the same pretext from the elderly victim of the first case a sum of money, gold pounds and jewels.
Two mobile phones and a sum of money were found and confiscated in the possession of the perpetrator.
The arrested woman will be taken to the District Attorney of Orestiada, while the police investigation and preliminary investigation continue to identify her accomplices and verify their possible involvement in committing similar crimes.
