Cairo: A man has been sentenced to death for stabbing a Coptic Christian priest to death in Egypt. Nehru Tafiq, 60, has been sentenced to death by an Alexandrian court in connection with the murder of priest Arsanios Wahid, 56. Wahid was attacked on a beach in Alexandria last April.
The investigation found that Tafeek had a terrorist background. The court found that this was a continuation of the recent spate of attacks on Christians in Egypt. In September 2017, an IS-linked terrorist stabbed an 82-year-old Christian doctor to death in Cairo. The assailant was sentenced to death the following year.
