On February 14, the Hanoi People’s Court held an appellate trial of the case “Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, organizations and individuals” against Facebooker Dang Nhu Quynh. Previously, Quynh was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the People’s Court of Nam Tu Liem District for the above crime.

In court, Dang Nhu Quynh asked the appeal court to reduce the penalty and ask for the Samsung Ultra Note 20 phone back. According to the defendant Quynh, this phone is not the item that Quynh used to compile “like sentences” statuses. , unrelated to the case. The defendant said that the phone used for drafting was an Iphone 12, but was lost while Quynh was golfing in Ho Chi Minh City.
When the chairman asked, “Why is it not used to commit crimes, but there are many messages related to the case, all sent by the defendant?”, Quynh replied because the phone accounts are synchronized, texting on one device. but other phones with the same app can still display it.
Defendant Dang Nhu Quynh admitted the crime and asked the court to reduce the sentence so that he could return to his family and relatives soon.
Considering that there is no basis to reduce the sentence, the Trial Panel does not accept the appeal of Defendant Dang Nhu Quynh and upheld the first-instance sentence of 2 years in prison for the crime of “abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, organizations and individuals” for the defendant. The court ordered to return to the defendant a black Iphone 12 pro and a used white laptop. Confiscate a Samsung Ultra Note 20 phone to the State.
The first-instance judgment determined that, at the beginning of April 2022, when listening to information that some business leaders in the financial and real estate sectors were handled, Quynh did not have accurate information but still deduced and posted it. Do Anh Dung, Chairman of Tan Hoang Minh Group, was criminally handled, shared and interacted on Facebook by thousands of people. Until the legal authorities announced the official information, Quynh edited the article to orient readers to believe that they knew the information in advance.
On April 6, 2022, Quynh continued to write 2 articles with deductive and false content about a leader of a large corporation named T. Quynh took Mr. T’s personal photo, edited it, and posted it on Facebook. , with deductive content, untrue. This made many investors bewildered, constantly selling off, causing the stock code of the above group to continuously drop to the floor. The capitalization of this stock also decreased by trillions of dong.
After that, Mr. T. had a denunciation Dang Nhu Quynh. On April 13, Dang Nhu Quynh was urgently arrested by the Security Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security for the act of “abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals”.
