The alleged perpetrator of the accident reported it to the police
A 27-year-old man who allegedly hit an octogenarian on January 14 showed up at a police station on Monday with his lawyer.
The alleged perpetrator of a fatal traffic accident that occurred on January 14 near the village of Ollon presented himself to the police on Monday. He is a 27-year-old Swiss national living in the region.
The accident took place on Friday January 14 around 10:20 a.m. on the cantonal road about 350 meters after the town of Ollon, in the direction of Villars-sur-Ollon. An 89-year-old Swiss resident in the region was found unresponsive on the road, probably hit by a car.
The octogenarian died on the spot. The driver involved in the accident having fled without announcing to the police, an appeal for witnesses had been launched.
The investigation is continuing under the direction of the prosecutor in charge. The latter entrusted the investigations to specialists from the traffic unit of the gendarmerie, the Vaud cantonal police said in a press release on Thursday.
