Father-Daughter Relationship Turned Nightmare: A Tale of Poisoning and Revenge

Father-daughter relationships can be extremely close, then sometimes turn into a nightmare. This was the case in this small family living in Flémalle (Liège), who went through all the emotions before a tragedy was narrowly avoided.

Thus, La Libre learns that a few days ago, Anne (assumed name), an uneventful fifty-year-old, was arrested for having deliberately poisoned Jean (assumed name), her 80-year-old dad. The woman would have acted out of distress.

A luxury hotel and video games

Anne lives with her dad, Jean, who has behaved badly with his daughter for several years already. She takes care of him though. She does his shopping, prepares his meals, keeps him company. But she is not thanked for all that. On the contrary, her father would never stop making fun of her according to Anne’s testimony reported to the police.

Insults and bullying, such would be the daily life of Anne, who has no one to share her experience with, no other member of the family being present alongside Jean. For Anne, there is therefore no respite. She suffers in silence, and will say nothing about it. Until she finally breaks down. It was a fortnight ago.

Finding no way to take revenge on her father’s attitude, Anne attacks her father’s most precious asset: the car he has just bought himself. Anne takes advantage of Jean’s lack of vigilance and steals the vehicle from him. That she will end up selling, for next to nothing, to the first buyer she meets on an online car sales platform.

Caroline recounts the horror experienced by her mother, drugged by her husband and raped by 83 strangers: “As if a bomb had exploded in my living room”

With the few tickets won, Anne decides to “indulge herself” and treats herself to a “weekend of rest”, alone, in a large hotel in Liège. She also explains that she bought… video games. In short, she wanted to take advantage of it, “to have fun with his money, to him, and to take revenge”, she insists.

After squandering all of her father’s money, Anne returns to her father’s home. She finds Jean there, who wonders: where did his car go? His daughter evades the question, but ends up confessing everything to her father, who calls the police. On site, the police will learn more and find that this crazy story of car theft actually hides many other misdeeds.

Psychotropics crushed in the dishes

Anne will begin by telling the police about the heavy life she has been leading, alone with her father, for years. To justify this car theft, she will expose in detail all the bullying of which she has been the victim for a long time. Then, she will admit to having wanted “peace” and to live, finally, in a “more bearable” life by poisoning her father.

On multiple occasions, Anne crushed powerful psychotropic drugs and then hid them in her dad’s meals and drinks. Jean ate and drank without realizing it. After his meals, he collapsed into a sort of transient coma, which allowed Anne to quietly go about her business.

Medical analysis

If Jean fortunately did not succumb to his treatment, the Liège public prosecutor’s office took up the case. A medical examiner was called in to try to determine if the cocktail of drugs could have been fatal to the old man who accompanied his meals with large quantities of alcohol.

Depending on the results, the facts could be qualified as administration of harmful substances, or even attempted assassination on an ascendant or even attempted parricide.

After being warned by the Public Prosecutor of Liège, Anne – who herself gave this dramatic account to the investigators – was released without being charged for the moment. But she will probably be prosecuted. Contacted by La Libre, his lawyer, Me Olivier Dupont, refused to comment.
