Uruguayan international defender Ronald Araujo will be operated on Wednesday for his tear in his right thigh contracted with his selection on Friday, FC Barcelona announced on Monday, and thus jeopardizes his participation in the World Cup in Qatar (November 20 – December 18).
“Ronald Araujo will be operated on Wednesday for the torn tendon of the long adductor of the right thigh. This intervention will be carried out by doctor Lasse Lempainen under the supervision of the medical services of the club, in Turku (Finland)”, detailed the Catalan club in a statement released on Monday. A new press release will be published at the end of the operation to specify the duration of the absence of their 23-year-old player, Barça said.

Araujo absent for about a month and a half?
According to the press, the duration of his absence should be about a month and a half, which would allow him to return just before the start of the World Cup in Qatar, scheduled for November 20, in less than two months. The media have argued that Barça pushed their player towards an operation, convincing him that he has a chance to play in the World Cup.
