FC St. Pauli – Jackson Irvine & David Nemeth out: once a blood crash, once gambled away | Sports

Irvine & Nemeth out early |

Once blood crash, once gambled

It looked dramatic! After a blood crash with Braunschweig’s Filip Benkovic after five minutes, the game was already over for Pauli captain Jackson Irvine.

“He didn’t have a headache. But the cut was simply too big to deal with immediately,” explained trainer Timo Schultz. “Basically he is fine, he has been sewn up with a few stitches.”

From the middle of the first half, the Australian followed the game from the bench and was also able to train with a band-aid on Sunday.

Central defender David Nemeth, who was substituted with Irvine, was also on the bench after ten minutes. Schultz: “He already had adductor problems during the week. We tried to control that. He too had the feeling that it was possible.”

Gambled! Schultz: “During the competition he noticed that it wasn’t 100 percent. Then we’d better switch. Can happen, but is unlucky.”

The risk was too great that Nemeth could fail for the derby. For this reason, left-back Leart Paqarada was completely absent in Braunschweig.

Just crazy! This goal is incredible for a defender

Schultz: “If you asked Paqa, he would have said it was possible. But he didn’t do a full intensive session with the team. The risk would then have been too great.”

On Sunday he was on the training ground, practicing for the derby.
