translation exclusiveThe U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Lantedra as the first cell therapy made from deceased-donor pancreatic cells to treat type 1 diabetes.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Lantedra is approved for the treatment of adults with type 1 diabetes who are unable to approach their target glycated hemoglobin due to existing recurrent episodes of severe hypoglycemia.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also granted approval for Lantidra to CellTrans Inc.

It is worth noting that type 1 diabetes is a chronic autoimmune disease that requires lifelong care including the requirement of insulin either through multiple daily injections or continuous infusion using a pump.
