Ferrari F1 continues to transform its partnership with Philip Morris[F1-Gate .com]

Mattia Binotto, Scuderia Ferrari’s F1 team representative, announced that he has continued his partnership with Philip Morris International and talked about its importance.

Prior to 2022, the end of the partnership with Philip Morris was whispered as Scuderia Ferrari’s F1 car, team name and sponsor list no longer had the “Mission Winnow” branding.

Mission Winnow is an initiative by Philip Morris International that served as the next evolution in the relationship with Scuderia Ferrari after F1 regulations surrounding tobacco put an end to Marlboro’s long-standing branding.

Mattia Binotto has revealed that Mission Winnow has returned as an official team partner under new conditions and that the partnership between Scuderia Ferrari and Philip Morris International is continuing.

“It’s important to know that it was a long partnership with Philip Morris. We’re very proud of it, and we’re very happy that it’s still going on,” said Mattia Binotto.

“That was the intention of both parties. It was important to be together after many years.”

“I don’t want to go into too many details, but the way the partnership is set up has changed a bit.”

“But in the end, it’s more important to make sure it’s continued.”

Scuderia Ferrari made a very strong start in the 2022 season by taking full advantage of the F1 regulation review, with Charles Leclerc winning two in the opening four races. Leclerc leads the drivers’ championship by 27 points behind Max Verstappen (Red Bull).

Meanwhile, Scuderia Ferrari is in the lead in the Constructors’ Championship, 11 points ahead of Red Bull Racing.

But after a nightmare weekend at Imola’s home race, Scuderia Ferrari heads for the first-ever Miami GP.

Carlos Sainz spun out on lap 1 by Daniel Ricciardo, and Charles Leclerc spun into contact with Wall while chasing second-placed Sergio Perez, eventually finishing the P6.

Miami will be the second race in the United States, where F1 is a strong growing market, but Scuderia Ferrari also sees the United States as an important market.

Mattia Binotto thinks F1 is currently in a very good position in terms of attracting sponsors. Scuderia Ferrari reunited with former longtime sponsor Banco Santander prior to the 2022 season, with Valus and Snapdragon also participating.

“There is a lot of interest in Miami, and I think the American market as Ferrari is an important market for us,” said Mattia Binotto.

“But it’s also seen in our sponsors. In fact, the whole F1 business is going well now. We’re all very happy. I think it’s going to be a fun weekend and event.”
