This December 21, in the early hours of the morning, a fire in the city of Barranquillaexactly in the port of Compás, in a hydrocarbon company, where, apparently, a storage tank exploded.

The seriousness of the situation has forced the aeronautical firefighters support the work of the Barranquilla fire brigade and the Armyreason for which, the Civil Aeronautics informed that some affectations may occur in the operation of the Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport.

“Air operations to and from the Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport may be affected, as a preventive measure and to prioritize emergency care“, Aerocivil announced in a statement.
Thus, the entity asked travelers who are heading to the city or who have flights scheduled to leave it, that they contact their airline to verify possible changes in travel itineraries.

Despite the efforts of the authorities, the fire has not yet been extinguished and the smoke continues to spread in the areas surrounding the conflagration.
The situation in the city is such that even public services have been affected. Five neighborhoods of Barranquilla and the metropolitan area have their water, gas and energy supplies suspended.
