Fleur Holleman takes victory in U25 Jumping Amsterdam: ‘Luckily this was enough’

Fleur Holleman took victory in the Bouwbedrijf Van de Mheen Prize today at Jumping Amsterdam. In the national U25 class over 1.40 m, she counted right on time on the twelve-year-old French-bred Cataque du Haut Breil (by HH Conrad). The combination remained clear and recorded the winning time of 60.45 seconds.

“It went very well,” says Fleur Holleman. “I was very tense. I wanted to enjoy the ride and do what I can. This was fortunate enough. I have a fast horse and also a short turn, so I set a fast time.”

In de flow

Fleur Holleman was busy with the competition. “I came out of the ring fifth and there were fourteen more to come after me. I did watch it online and a friend was watching it in the stands. I didn’t hear from her. Then I won the section. I’m really happy with it. I didn’t expect to win here. I am now in the flow that I can ride fast, but the others can also be very fast.”

Last year with youth

The rider has had Cataque du Haut Breil for a year and a half. “Last year I rode with him in the European Championships for the young riders. This year is the last year with the youth. He hasn’t jumped higher yet, so I hope to go to a higher level with him. My parents own Cataque. I am very lucky with that. We definitely want to keep him this year. Then we have to look.”

Ever drive in Amsterdam

“It’s really cool to ride at Jumping Amsterdam,” Holleman continues. “I’ve been watching ClipMyHorse for years and wanted to ride here one day. Last year I rode at Jumping Amsterdam for the first time and now again. And then win!”

Ebba Danielsson and Iris Michels

Ebba Danielsson rode the KWPN-approved stallion for all she was worth Equus Tame (by Qlassic Bois Margot), but was 0.17 seconds short of victory. Iris Michels finished in third place with Bugano Abbey (by Ugano Sitte). The pair left all beams on the course right on time and finished clear in 60.66 seconds.
