Two local police officers shot and killed a man outside a Target store in the busy commercial tourist area, authorities said.
One person suffered a minor shrapnel injury to the hand and two others fell while trying to flee the area Wednesday night in Kissimmee, they added. The event occurred near Walt Disney World.
Osceola County Sheriff Marco Lopez revealed a few details during an evening news conference.
“There were shots fired by police officers. Two of our officers are implicated… We have a dead man and we are fully cooperating with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement,” Lopez said.
He added that he would not be answering questions Wednesday night because “the Florida Police Department is taking over the investigation and we don’t want to interfere.”
No agent was injured.
The identity of the man killed was not immediately released.
