Flu, Covid, bronchiolitis: the health situation is improving in Martinique

Good news the bronchiolitis epidemic is officially over in Martinique and the Antilles Guyana. The circulation of the Covid-19 epidemic is weak, stable, but still present. The flu epidemic continues despite declining indicators in the city and stable in the hospital.



The flu still worries the health authorities in Martinique. In the regional epidemiological point (April 6, 2023), which relates the data for the week of March 27 to April 02, 2023, the Regional Agency for Health and Public Health France, affirm that “the epidemic continues with declining indicators in the city and stable in the hospital“.

In comparison, general practitioners identified 490 cases from March 27 to April 2, 2023 against 880 the previous week. The positivity rate at the hospital is also falling. It goes from 19% to 17%.

On the whole of the French territory, there are only 8 regions still in the epidemic phase.

The situation is substantially identical in Martinique and Guadeloupe with regard to Covid-19. The incidence rate is 33 per 100,000 inhabitants in Martinique. It therefore remains below the alert threshold of 50 per 100,000 inhabitants.
The positivity rate is 10%.

From March 27 to April 02, 115 new cases were confirmed, as many as in the week of March 20 to 26. Less than 10 people are hospitalized per week.

Since the beginning of 2023, one person per week, on average, has been admitted to the critical care / intensive care unit. All departments combined, 5 people were hospitalized compared to 8 the previous week.

No death is to be deplored in Martinique against 1 in Guadeloupe.

Good news regarding the Bronchiolitis outbreak. It’s officially over. The indicators returned to normal. Health authorities are calling for caution because the epidemic phase could start again.
