The Ministry of Health of the province joined this Monday the launch of the flu vaccination that is carried out at the national level. The head of the area, Sonia Martorano, stressed that “flu vaccination is launched with a target population of 600 thousand people with 50 thousand doses arrived for now, which will first be allocated to strategic health personnel”.
Regarding the people for whom flu vaccination is indicated, Martorano stated: “Pregnant women can be inoculated, at any time during pregnancy, or the puerperal woman, 10 days after discharge; boys and girls from 6 months to 2 years; people between 2 and 65 years of age with comorbidities – morbid obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and the immunosuppressed; and older than 65 years”.
The Ministry of Health clarified that vaccination began progressively to cover the health personnel and pediatric population. Subsequently they will also be indicated for people of 2 to 65 years with comorbidities, pregnant and over 65 years.
In this sense, Minister Martorano remarked that “there is no problem” that they simultaneously place the flu vaccine with covid-19.
For his part, the province’s Secretary of Health, Jorge Prieto, highlighted the early arrival of doses: “We begin with another important and anticipated stage of prevention, regardless of what it does to the climate issuebecause we are starting an autumn with high temperatures, but we can also see that this virus is no longer as seasonal as before, so the arrival of the trivalent flu vaccine doses, as in this case, marks a priority ”.
Asked about the scope of the vaccination campaigns, Prieto indicated that “last year we had a 80% coverage (Santa Fe was the second district in the country with the best coverage) but we did not reach as many boys and girls from 6 months to 2 years, something that is very important to take into account, since we had deaths from the flu and an early circulation of the virus ”.
“Today we have vaccines available, we have the pediatric doses and we call on the population to adhere. This is a vaccination schedule that we are repeating annually. In other years, the vaccines arrived later, but today it is already available, which is why the campaign is being launched at the provincial and national levels,” he concluded.

The municipal Health Secretariat also reported that in the first stage this vaccine will be applied to health personnel and shift assignment opens for the rest of the population that should receive this vaccine (People over 65 years of age, boys and girls from 6 to 24 months, pregnant and postpartum women). It is also intended for people from 2 to 64 years with risk factors (with medical indication).

For his part in the municipal health centers will be vaccinated, also from April 3, spontaneously (without prior shift). The municipal health network has the capacity to apply 3,000 daily doses.
The vaccine will be applied Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Roque Sáenz Peña, Víctor J. Vilela, Carrasco, Clemente Álvarez, Alberdi and Cemar hospitals, while the health centers will vaccinate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m..

The flu
The flu is a respiratory viral disease It usually occurs in the coldest months of the year. The virus is transmitted from one person to another, mainly by droplets from the respiratory tract of a sick person, through coughing, sneezing or simply when talking.
