Foods that can “naturally dissolve” deadly blood clots

Al-Monitor newspaper: Researchers have revealed foods and drinks that can naturally dissolve deadly blood clots, and they include garlic, kiwi, kale, spinach, red wine and grape juice, according to “Express”.

A study by the Finn & Fassler Institute confirmed that the most powerful plant compounds that dissolve clots naturally may include bromelain and rutin (also known as rutoside).

Eating rutin, which can be found in apples, lemons, onions, orange tea and nutritional supplements, has been shown to prevent blood clots after an injury.

The authors of the new report conclude that the compound may be an inexpensive drug to reduce recurrent clots and help save thousands of lives.

The scientific study encourages eating natural pineapple or taking supplements containing bromelain for similar reasons.

However, he cautions, trying to dissolve a blood clot at home may require delaying appropriate medical treatment. This, in turn, can increase the risk of potentially life-threatening complications if the blood clots travel to other parts of the body.

A study published in 2017, found that curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, also acts as an anticoagulant, anticancer and antioxidant, but its use as a complementary treatment for blood clots needs further investigation.

Another superfood linked to its anticoagulant effects, ginger contains the chemical salicylate.

Common causes of blood clots also include sitting for long periods of time as this obstructs blood flow.
