Former skier wins third gold at Russian Biathlon Championships

Natalia Shevchenko, who switched to biathlon only last year, won a gold medal in the relay race in Khanty-Mansiysk as part of the Sverdlovsk Region team. Previously, she won the sprint and pursuit.

The national team of the Sverdlovsk region (Tamara Derbusheva, Irina Kazakevich, Natalia and Anastasia Shevchenko) won the relay at the Russian Biathlon Championship, which takes place in Khanty-Mansiysk.

The second place was taken by the team of the Moscow Region (Polina Shevnina, Yulia Drozdova, Kristina Pavlushina and Anastasia Goreeva), the third place was taken by the KhMAO-Yugra team (Elizaveta Kaplina, Alina Kudisova, Ekaterina Noskova and Ksenia Dovgaya).

The coach of the biathlon team announced plans to retrain several skiers

Former skier Natalia Shevchenko has already won her third gold medal at this tournament. Previously, she was the best in the sprint and pursuit.

Shevchenko is 22 years old. She switched to biathlon from cross-country skiing last year.

The Russian Championship will end on April 3.

Russian athletes do not take part in international competitions this season due to suspension by the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
