FPÖ – Hafenecker: ÖVP must clear the way for a person of integrity as President of the National Council

After Pilnacek’s statements became known, Sobotka is untenable and the ÖVP’s defense line is completely unbelievable

Vienna (OTS) – After a tape full of serious accusations from the late justice section head Christian Pilnacek became known against the ÖVP and in particular National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka, FPÖ General Secretary NAbg. Christian Hafenecker to the level-headed forces in the ÖVP to redeem the parliament from Wolfgang Sobotka: “Finally draw the long-needed consequences and clear the way for a person of integrity at the head of the National Council!”

“What Pilnacek said in this conversation fits down to the smallest detail with the overall impression that the ÖVP and especially Sobotka himself made in the two investigative committees that looked into the People’s Party’s misconduct,” said Hafenecker. The FPÖ General Secretary also pointed out that the line of defense presented throughout the evening by ÖVP General Secretary Christian Stocker was refuted in detail in ZiB-2 by Armin Wolf and thus reduced to absurdity.

Hafenecker recalled that at the beginning of 2021, twelve telephone calls between Sobotka and Pilnacek were documented immediately before an official seizure of files in the Ministry of Finance led by Gernot Blümel. “Even back then, this was a clear indication of Sobotka’s attempt to influence proceedings against the ÖVP and its top politicians – an indication that is now further substantiated by Pilnacek’s statements.”
