The FPÖ Styria must compensate Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) for defamation. The reason for this is the spread of a picture montage with a sleeping woman on social media after the 2022 climate summit in Egypt, in which Gewessler was accused of sleeping through the conference. However, the person pictured was not the minister. The Graz Higher Regional Court ordered the FPÖ state party to pay compensation of 13,000 euros.
The Styrian FPÖ leader Mario Kunasek must also publish the verdict on his Facebook page, which he already did this week. Climate Protection Minister Gewessler announced on Sunday that she would donate the 13,000 euros in compensation in equal parts to the Documentation Archive of the Austrian Resistance (DÖW) and the platform Mimikama – Association for the Education of Internet Abuse. The judgment is final.
