Reigning MotoGP CHAMPION Francesco Bagnaia has shifted his focus to the next race at the American GP, at the Circuit of the Americas, United States (US), April 12-14 after the disappointing results at the Portuguese GP, Sunday (24/3).

The Sprint Race session and the official race at the Algarve Circuit, said the racer who is familiarly called Pecco, was not his lucky day.

In the Sprint Race session, Pecco, who was initially calmly leading the race, suddenly lost control of his motorbike and ran wide, thus finishing the sprint in fourth position.

For the race session, Pecco, who had difficulty joining the front row of racers, experienced bad luck when he was unable to finish the race after being involved in a crash with Marc Marquez with three laps remaining.

“We weren’t in the best condition and obviously we couldn’t find the right solution, even though the feeling was very good yesterday and this morning,” said Pecco, quoted from the official Ducati Corse website, Monday (25/3).

“It’s a shame, we will now focus on the next race because after the warm-up I felt like I had the potential to fight at the front, but we couldn’t capitalize on it.”

“I am very sorry because we have worked well, but we missed something in today’s race,” he continued.

Only finishing in fourth position in the sprint session made the Italian racer only get six points at the Portuguese GP and made him lose the throne of the standings temporarily by dropping to fourth position with 37 points.

Bagnaia is now 23 points adrift of his rival Jorge Martin who is at the top of the standings after the Prima Pramac Racing racer won the race session on Sunday (24/3).

The third MotoGP series this season will be played in the United States, specifically the Circuit of the Americas, on April 12-14. (Ant/Z-1)
