MEMBERS of the MIND ID Group, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) consistently support the economic progress of the indigenous Amungme and Kamoro communities through the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Program (PP-UMKM) in order to make them independent in creating added economic value.

Nine entrepreneurs operating in the service and trade sectors have gone through a construction period of 5-10 years.

They are Hironimus Urmami from CV Amamapare, Petrus Nomomi from CV Omanikurup, Minna Weya CV Kibielobe, Yohanes Mamiri from PT Tairipa Putra Mandiri, Tena Murib from CV Nukport Jaya, Yohanes Fatie from PT Usaha Utama, Bernadina Jamang from CV Anggait Kineming, Isak Bukaleng from CV Sinar Putra Papua and Kelara Magai from Jamal Papua Mart.

MIND ID Corporate Secretary Heri Yusuf said that the MIND ID Group is proactive in collaborating with local communities so that they can become empowered entrepreneurs who can compete to create added value.

During this program, PTFI succeeded in establishing the independence of 43 local entrepreneurs, who have now developed into major contributors to the Timika region and its surroundings.

With a total of 198 native Papuan entrepreneurs, the success of MSMEs can be an inspiration for others.

Empowered business actors also appreciate the program being promoted because it is able to integrate various parties starting from the government, banking and society.

One of the program participants, Hironimus Urmani, thanked him for providing the opportunity to learn and develop. He hopes that support will continue to be provided to other entrepreneurs who have not yet joined this program.

“We, the 9 contractors, are very grateful for the support that has been given. “Hopefully this program can make us even more enthusiastic in our business,” he said.

“Hopefully we will all join hands, work together, MSMEs must rise, Mimika rises and we all must rise,” he said.

Freeport Indonesia’s PP-UMKM program is not only about providing assistance, but also about empowering local communities to become agents of change in economic development.

Through strong collaboration between the private sector, government and society, the success of these nine entrepreneurs is a reflection of the extraordinary potential possessed by the children of the Papuan nation. (RO/Z-1)
