The TNI apologized to the Papuan people regarding cases of torture carried out by a number of TNI soldiers against members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB Papua).

“I apologize to all Papuan people and we will continue to work so that incidents like this do not happen again in the future,” explained Pangdam 3).

“We will continue to increase supervision of task forces carrying out tasks in the Papua region,” he added.

In essence, Izak said that an examination had been carried out and his party confirmed the torture incident in the viral video.

Meanwhile, Kadispenad, Brigadier General TNI Kristomei Sianturi, explained that the acts of violence committed by TNI soldiers from Battalion 300/Raider were currently being carried out by further investigation.

“Mr Army Chief of Staff has ordered, in this case, POM TNI AD, assisted by Pomdam III/Siliwangi, to carry out an investigation into the links between individual TNI soldiers who were directly involved in this act of violence,” said Kristomei.

“Currently, work is still continuing and examinations have been carried out on 42 TNI soldiers. “And of the 42 soldiers, indications have been found that 13 soldiers actually committed acts of violence,” he explained.

Kristomei said that the Cenderawasih Military Commander had issued a temporary detention order and later the TNI soldier would be detained at the maximum security military detention facility at Pomdam III/Siliwangi.

“Then these 13 people will be named as suspects,” he said.

Kristomei revealed that the Papuan KKB member who was persecuted was Definus Kogoya. One of the two other KKB members who was arrested following a patrol by TNI-Polri security forces. The other two KKB members, namely Warinus Kogoya and Alianus Siswa.
