There is currently serious competition in the market for smartphones with a format flip : the Oppo Find N2 Flip, the Huawei P50 Pocket and the Motorola Razr thus face the range of Samung Galaxy Z Flip, whose fourth iteration was launched last year. An ever-practical design

In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a copycat of the previous model, but that’s clearly not a flaw. Inside, we are entitled to the same 6.7-inch folding OLED screen, with a 120 Hz refresh rate for excellent fluidity. Outside, a small 1.9-inch OLED panel can display several handy widgets.

For example, you can set up three contacts to call quickly without having to unfold the smartphone. In short, a design that still works just as much, especially since the clamshell format is super practical for slipping the smartphone into a pocket or holding it easily in your hand.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 also scores points thanks to its Flex mode: concretely, the interface is able to adapt when you bend the hinge of the smartphone to put it at 90°. For example, on YouTube, videos scroll in square format across the top of the screen while comments scroll across the bottom. Several applications can perfectly comply with this Flex mode.

A much more durable smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 also offers great performance thanks to its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. We can thus enjoy a net gain in power, both for games and for the user experience in general. The Z Flip 4 will be able to launch any application without slowing down, and even offers a relatively contained heating on very greedy uses.

But where the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is really better than its predecessor is in terms of its autonomy: while the Z Flip 3 had a rather feeble 3,300 mAh battery, the Z Flip 4 incorporates a 3 700mAh. The latter thus promises better autonomy and can last a full day without suffering too much – everything will of course depend on the nature of your uses. On the other hand, concerning the recharge, it will be necessary to be (very) patient: to gain 25%, count 30 minutes.

Finally, regarding its photo part, the Z Flip 4 is equipped with a dual sensor (wide-angle + ultra wide-angle) of 12 megapixels and a front camera of 10 megapixels. The shots will have beautiful colors and effective sharpness, but we regret the absence of a telephoto lens, which some competitors in this price range nevertheless offer.
