The president of the Democrats (LD) party, Guy Nzouba Ndama, in his return to political speech delivered on Saturday February 17, 2024 at the headquarters of his party in Libreville, made it clear to his activists who came in large numbers for the occasion, that the new fight of his political formation is to fight against the gravediggers of the transition.
“From now on, we will fight the enemies of the Transition”declared Mr. Nzouba Ndama, who is resuming his political activities after almost a year of absence, because he was under house arrest for legal problems.
Judicial cases relating to his spectacular arrest on September 17, 2022 at the Kabala border post near Lekoni in the province of Haut Ogooué (south-east in Gabon) with a sum of 1 billion 190 million FCFA which he was carrying in suitcases, back from Congo-Brazzaville.
At the time, a fierce opponent of Ali Bongo’s regime, Guy Nzouba Ndama declared to the judicial authorities that this money came from the sale of his real estate that he owned on the seafront in Pointe Noire, the economic capital of Congo
Before the judicial courts of Franceville and Libreville, the man held up a copy of the land title transferred as well as the deed of sale. But he was found guilty of “illegal possession of prohibited goods”. After a legal saga, the case ended up before the court of cassation. The politician says he is confident that justice will finally be done. On September 5, he benefited from the lifting of the house arrest to which he was subject.
For Guy Nzouba Ndama, the fight against the enemies of the transition is necessary “so that the new authorities, in their just desire to involve all Gabonese people in the vast project of restoring our institutions, refrain at the same time from succumbing to the demonic charm of those who supported with their last energy, a few years ago month again, the desire to perpetuate the fallen power.”
