From thrillers to non-fiction: AK offers members free reading pleasure in the digital library

Reading is not only a leisure activity and immersion in other worlds, it is also essential for personal (further) education and personality development. That is why the AK makes thousands of e-books, audio books, magazines and daily newspapers available to its members with the digital library – free of charge. “It is important to us as a Chamber of Labor to make knowledge and leisure activities accessible to our members as cheaply as possible,” says AK President Andreas Stangl.

Whether on vacation on the beach or at home on the sofa: A good book is a must when relaxing. As an AK member, you have an advantage and can draw from the full in the digital library of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor. Audio books, e-books and magazines are offered. With thousands of e-media there is definitely something for everyone. For example, children’s audio books are offered, but also e-books for young people as well as detective stories, non-fiction books and many other genres. And best of all, it’s free to use.

New: The press reader with 300 daily newspapers and magazines

Daily newspapers have a lot to offer, but fewer and fewer people want or can afford subscriptions. The Pressreader, the new service from the Chamber of Labor’s digital library, therefore now offers free access to over 300 daily newspapers and magazines in 60 languages (including ten Austrian daily newspapers).

Making knowledge and leisure fun accessible to everyone

“As a Chamber of Labour, it is important to us to make education and leisure activities accessible to all AK members in an uncomplicated and inexpensive way. With the digital library, we are taking this claim into account. And especially in times of massive inflation in all areas of life, it is important that employees have services like this available free of charge. Nobody should have to go without books,” says AK President Andreas Stangl.

All information on registering and using the digital library is available at ooe.arbeiterkammer.at/bibliothek to find. Also the streaming offer “film friend” can be accessed in the digital library. There are 3,500 film titles available.
