A few months ago we reported on a rumor regarding the successor to the Fujifilm X100V which claimed that the new rangefinder could be equipped with a new lens when it is released in 2024. It turns out that, according to Fuji Rumorsthe new X100V appears to retain the same 23mm f/2.0 lens as its predecessor.
In all accountsThe X100V’s compact Fujinon 23mm lens is praised for its sharpness, fast focusing and lack of distortion, especially as a versatile lens. The only major feature missing from the current X100V is optical or in-body image stabilization, a rumored feature said it would arrive with the new X100V with the new X100V.
Despite the corrections, Fuji Rumors maintains an early 2024 launch for the new X100V, although the name of the upcoming device is unclear.
This rumor makes sense, as the Fujifilm X100V itself featured a refreshed lens, and so it’s likely that Fujifilm can still take advantage of the X100V’s current 23mm unit. The most disappointing part of this rumor is the fact that it means that the successor to the brightness that we often encounter in street photography.
Nonetheless, current rumors indicate that a relatively impressive upgrade to the X100V line is in the works, with a 40MP sensor expected to ship with the new camera. The sensor upgrade would significantly improve digital zoom, allowing photographers to use the device more comfortably for portrait photography, without losing its street photography strengths.
Fujifilm has also taken some impressive steps in terms of video with its latest models, like the 6K open-gate mode on the Fujifilm X-S20 ( ) (Currently $1,299 at Amazon), so it wouldn’t be surprising to see some of these features make their way to the future X100V.
