Georgian Foreign Ministry reacted to South Ossetia’s plans for a referendum

Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said that talk of a referendum in South Ossetia is unacceptable. This is how he reacted to the plans of the authorities of the republic for a possible entry into Russia.

Prior to this, the head of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, said that the republic was preparing to join the Russian Federation. Appropriate legal steps are being taken for this. In particular, he promised to hold a referendum after the presidential elections.

In addition, he stressed that within the Russian Federation, the republics could unite with North Ossetia. In this case, the new subject can be called Ossetia-Alania.
