Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Sucker Punch Productions have announced Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, which will be released for the PS5 on October 1. Arriving almost exactly one year after the base game’s launch, the new release bundles the original open-world title with major new gameplay additions, including a narrative expansion and a single-player combat survival mode.
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Arrives October 1
The Complete Edition will cost $69.99 USD, matching the launch price of the base game. Players who already own the original title can purchase the Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99 USD to gain access to the new story content and survival mode. Buyers who pre-order by September 30 will also receive an early unlock of the Sakai Armor on October 1, providing a throwback to Jin’s family armor from Ghost of Tsushima.
Echoes of Sekigahara Narrative Expansion
The headline addition in the upcoming bundle is a narrative expansion titled Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara. The story alternates between the present day and flashbacks to protagonist Atsu’s time on the mainland. In the present timeline, players explore a previously undiscovered valley that was once the domain of The Snake and his devoted followers, the Vipers, while also encountering Nagato, a significant figure from Atsu’s history.
In the historical flashbacks, players experience Atsu’s involvement in the Battle of Sekigahara and a pivotal moment in her life before she returned home for her quest for vengeance. The expansion introduces new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets, dyes, and additional Trophies.
Most Wanted Combat Survival Mode
Alongside the story expansion, the update introduces Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted, a single-player combat survival mode that the studio describes as its spin on a roguelike. Gameplay requires players to accept bounties to start new runs, during which taking down enemies earns combat perks and unlocks additional playable characters.
Promotional trailers show that Atsu specializes in dual katanas, Oyuki utilizes the kusarigama, and Nagato wields a yari. The mode also includes its own dedicated set of Trophies.
Package Contents and Free October Patch Features
The Complete Edition package includes the base game, the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion, the Most Wanted mode, and Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the online co-op experience supporting up to four players and a Raid. It also packages all in-game content previously issued in the Digital Deluxe Edition, alongside the Charm of Hokkyokusei, new tracks for Watanabe Mode, photo mode stamps, and extra cosmetics for New Game+.
Separately, all existing owners of the base game will receive a free update via a patch on October 1. This patch introduces the Beauty of Yōtei mode, which functions as a screensaver-like view of Ezo’s environments for relaxing at home and capturing Photo Mode images. Other quality-of-life additions in the free patch include a high-contrast accessibility option and the ability to maintain the visual appearance of one armor set while utilizing the stats of another.
