Expanding Capacity for Kent’s Rescued Goats
The newly acquired land sits close to the sanctuary’s existing grounds. According to the sanctuary, the purchased plot of land had historically been used for agriculture and will enable it to rescue more goats and double its on-site capacity. Once development is complete, the expanded grounds will allow the facility to house up to 160 goats.

Matt Huggins called the land purchase the most significant step since the charity’s foundation. The sanctuary stated that a lot of work would need to be carried out on the land despite being a “blank canvas”, but new goats are expected to begin living there by spring 2027, though leadership emphasizes that considerable preparation lies ahead before the new pastures are ready for residents.
A Long-Term Vision for Rural Conservation
Matt Huggins added that its long-term vision included solar panels, wind turbines and habitat networks for the wildlife, which he expected would take years to be fully completed.
