Londonderry Woman Injured in Manchester Car Crash

Manchester police are investigating a pair of separate, serious motor vehicle incidents that have left two individuals with severe injuries this week. The latest case involves a pedestrian who sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Center Street, according to local authorities.

As investigators probe the circumstances surrounding these collisions, public safety officials are urging witnesses to come forward with any details that could assist ongoing inquiries into the traffic crashes and related legal proceedings.

Pedestrian Struck on Center Street

Officers responded to the crash in the area of 288 Center St. at approximately 6:47 p.m. after receiving reports of an accident involving a pedestrian, Sgt. Michael Williams of the Manchester Police Department stated.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 77-year-old Manchester man was driving a vehicle heading west on Center Street when the impact occurred. The victim was immediately transported to Hartford Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Authorities noted that the driver remained at the scene following the incident and is cooperating fully with investigators.

The specialized Traffic Unit of the police department has taken over the active investigation. Officials have asked any witnesses or community members possessing relevant information to reach out to Officer Nicholas Sinopoli at 860-533-8620.

Domestic Dispute Leads to Separate Hit-and-Run

Officers arrived at the scene just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning to find a 59-year-old woman suffering from a serious leg injury.

Investigators determined that an argument had previously occurred between the victim and a relative, identified as 29-year-old Jamie Spears of Manchester. During the altercation, Spears allegedly drove a vehicle forward while the victim was standing directly in front of it, striking her, running her over, and subsequently leaving the scene.

First responders applied a tourniquet to the injured woman’s leg before transporting her to Elliot Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Spears later turned herself in at the police department and now faces formal charges of first-degree assault and conduct after an accident.

Investigation Status and Next Steps

Both cases remain under active investigation by law enforcement agencies as forensic teams review evidence and compile witness statements. Officials anticipate releasing further updates as preliminary findings are finalized and court proceedings advance for the individual in custody.
