During the event AnimeJapan 2022held last weekend, the franchise of Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-Up Darling) had two information boards that, while unfortunately not announcing the production of a second season, did have some surprises. In the first, the voice actress Hina Sugutawho plays Marin Kitagawawas presented with a cosplay of the character “Shizuku-tan“, but there is more history behind.
It turns out that said outfit was personally manufactured by Shouya Ishigethe voice actor of the protagonist Wakana Gojou. With this, they both recreated the first arc of the play where Gojou made this same outfit for Kitagawa. Suguta wrote on Twitter: ““Am I being a good Shizuku-tan?” The suit was made by Ishige-san. This is a cosplay of Shizuku Kuroe-tan from “Saint Slimy Girl’s Highschool 2”. The photographs were taken by Chihiro Sento-sensei».
The history of this project dates back, according to a recording of the event, to December 2021. The montage presented in the video wrote: «An absurd project in which a beginner makes a costume», and shows the entire process that the voice cast went through, from selecting the clothes to Ishige having to learn sewing and learning how to use a sewing machine.
The Serie Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru premiered on January 8 in Japan and had a total of twelve episodes, while the platforms Crunchyroll and Funimation are responsible for its distribution in the West, also with a dubbing into Latin Spanish. For his part, Fukuda publishes the manga in the magazine Young Gangan from the publisher Square Enix since January 2018.

Engrossed in the family business of traditional doll making, Wakana Gojou is a reserved first-year high school student with no friends. With the painful memory of a childhood friend’s disdain for his interest, Gojou can’t relate to his classmates and his hobbies, causing him to isolate himself. Gojou has not yet perfected the making of the dolls’ faces, but he is exceptionally skilled at making his clothes. His skill with the sewing machine is soon discovered by his beautiful classmate Marin Kitagawa, whose boldness and honesty Gojou both admires and envies. She instantly shares his own hobby with Gojou: he likes to dress up as erotic video game characters.
However, Kitagawa does not know how to sew her own suits, which leads her to seek Gojou’s expertise. Being drawn into the lovely girl’s endless adventures related to cosplay, Ella Kitagawa becomes the first friend of hers who fully accepts her. Thus, although they are polar opposites, their relationship slowly flourishes thanks to her ability to help each other in the intricate world of cosplay.
