Gonzalo Núñez was once again in the eye of the storm after a strong confrontation with Marco Figueroa, coach of Nicaragua, prior to the friendly match. It all started when the coach was interviewed on the sports commentator’s radio program and they were the protagonists of a discussion that ended in insults.

The popular ‘Castor’ questioned the football level of the ‘blue and white’ and that was not tolerated by the Chilean strategist, who assured that Núñez could not talk about it because he had never played football. That angered the communicator and he lost his temper.

That altercation did not go unnoticed and became a trend. The commentator received a lot of criticism because they considered it to be a lack of respect towards the coach. The event occurred last Thursday, March 21 and generated many reactions.

Gonzalo himself confirmed that Radio Exitosa had given him a drastic sanction that he must comply with to continue hosting the program. He acknowledged that he went too far, but clarified that he reacted that way because Figueroa started it.

“They have suspended me. “I was being nice, but my chain came off,” the sports journalist revealed in his YouTube program ‘Erick y Gonzalo’.

Gonzalo Núñez starred in a heated argument with Marco Figueroa, DT of Nicaragua (Successful).

Gonzalo Núñez and Marco Figueroa were the protagonists of a heated discussion in a radio interview prior to Peru vs Nicaragua. There were several tense moments, but everything exploded when the sports commentator assured that the ‘blanquirroja’ was the favorite in the bets.

That was not taken well by the Chilean coach and he responded: “Do you know what I do with betting, where I do it?” And the popular ‘Castor’ completed the phrase: “For the sake of…”.

As the driver interrupted him from time to time, the strategist asked to end the interview: “Can’t someone else call me? “How unpleasant this guy is.” He cut off the call and one of his co-workers asked, “Have you hung up?” And Gonzalo declared: “Yes, shit… shit…”.

The highest body of communicators in Lima was not immune to the strong discussion between Gonzalo Núñez and Marco Figueroa, coach of Nicaragua. He flatly rejected the communicator’s actions, and argued that he is not a sports journalist by profession.

“The College of Journalists of Lima (CPL) expresses its total rejection of the verbal attacks and insults uttered the day before, via telephone, by the host of the Exitosa Deportes program on Radio Exitosa, Gonzalo Núñez, to the technical director of the Soccer Team. from Nicaragua, Marco Figueroa,” reads the first part of the statement on social networks.

In addition, he asked Existosa radio to measure the content that is covered in said program since it is not the first time that the communicator has this type of behavior in a family content schedule.

And he requested to hire true professionals to allow him to improve his sports content:

– The driver in question is not a journalist by profession.

– As part of the deontology of journalistic practice, we recommend that the media outlet that hosts it regulate the content and verbal excesses of Gonzalo Núñez, which is frequently conducted on Exitosa Deportes during a family time slot. It should be remembered that this is not the first time that this type of situation has arisen with the commentator in question.

– As CPL we demand the hiring of career professionals specialized in sports topics, with the purpose of raising the information and educational level of our society on the subject.

– The Lima College of Journalists remains constantly vigilant against acts of this type that violate professional ethics and morality to improve the content offered to society through the different media.
