Google Launches Fitbit Edge Fitness Tracker with Bright Display

Google has released the Google Fitbit Edge fitness tracker to store shelves, featuring a 45% bigger display, physical side buttons, and compatibility with Android 11 or higher and Apple iOS 16.4 or higher.

Display and Design Features

The newly launched Fitbit Edge introduces the company’s largest and brightest tracker display, boasting a screen that is over 40% brighter than previous Fitbit trackers. Designed for at-a-glance readability and all-day comfort, the device is sculpted to contour to the wrist and includes physical side buttons for easier controls alongside stylish accessories. The interface is newly designed to be simplified and visually rich, accompanied by 10 new expressive clock faces that offer options ranging from sporty designs highlighting key health and fitness information to sleek analog clock faces paired with fashion-forward accessory bands.

Health Tracking and Device Specifications

The tracker features an altimeter sensor to capture outdoor workout climbs by determining changes in elevation during hills, stairs, or summits. An improved Women’s Health experience brings an on-wrist ability to track menstrual cycles and symptoms, allowing users to view their current cycle stage. Additionally, the device is built with repair in mind, marking the first Fitbit device where Google made it possible to replace the battery to extend the device’s lifetime.

Operation of the tracker requires a Google Account, the Google Health app, and an internet connection. Some features require a separate Google Health Premium subscription. The device works with most phones running Android 11 or higher and Apple iOS 16.4 or higher, though it is not intended for medical purposes.
