Riyadh is about to implement a comprehensive afforestation plan. As part of ‘Green Riyadh’ project, 6,23,000 trees are being planted. Trees are planted in 54 gardens, 61 schools, 121 churches and 78 parking spaces. The project is planned to be implemented in more than 120 residential areas at international standards. Along with the implementation of the project, public awareness and tree planting campaigns will be conducted. There will be an exhibition detailing the project from the 29th of this month to the 7th of January. The afforestation is planned to be implemented in the areas of Al Aziziya, Al Naseem, Al Jazeera, Al Araija, Qurtuba, Al Ghadair and Al Nakhil.

Green Riyadh is one of four projects launched by King Salman in the Saudi capital on March 19, 2019 under the supervision of the Committee of Grand Projects chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Riyadh is trying to become one of the top 100 cities in the world. And the Green Riyadh project is also a part of Kingdom Vision 2030. 75 million trees will be planted across the capital. Officials said it would help improve air quality and reduce temperatures.
