Since its premiere on January 25, “Griselda”, the Netflix series starring Colombian actress Sofía Vergara and which follows the life of Griselda Blanco, known as “The Godmother of Cocaine”, has become one of the most controversial and striking in the streaming service’s catalog.
The production shows various aspects in the life of the woman also known as the “black widow,” from her beginnings in crime at the age of 13, through her rise in drug trafficking in Miami to her consolidation as the main distributor of cocaine and leader of the criminal world in the capital of Florida.
To achieve this, the woman did not do it alone, but had the help of Jesús “Chucho” Castro, her lieutenant and whom she would later pursue, being a key character in understanding the levels of cruelty to which she could reach.

WHO IS JESÚS “CHUCHO” CASTRO IN “GRISELDA”?
In the Netflix series, “Chucho” is presented as Griselda’s right-hand man, accompanying her on her rise in drug trafficking until she became the “Godmother of Cocaine” in Miami, in addition to being her bodyguard and most efficient enforcer.
In fact, the production shows that, without him, Griselda probably would not have reached so high. Even so, when he separates from her, the woman sends another hitman to end her life, but he ends up murdering Johnny, her two-year-old son.
Chucho’s estrangement and the woman’s decision to have him killed shows the cruelty of the woman, who did not hesitate to kill two of her husbands, so it is no surprise that she did the same with an ally.

“CHUCHO” CASTRO IN REAL LIFE, HIS FIGHT WITH GRISELDA AND THE DEATH OF HIS SON
Jesús Castro was Griselda Blanco’s hitman for several years, although he ended up leaving her to live a life away from her activities. In fact, he even refused to help one of the woman’s children, something that, given her position, was an affront to her.
“Jesus rejected him (Griselda’s son). He said: ‘I have separated. I have cut ties with you and your mother and you are not welcome here.’ Well, that was offensive to Griselda,” said Nelson Andreu, retired West Miami police chief, in conversation with CBS News.
It was for this reason that he decided to send Jorge “Rivi” Ayala, but he and his team were not successful, because although they managed to find him after a long search, because he had hidden, they were not able to kill him. However, they ended up with his little boy who was only two years old.

Far from being upset with the failure in the execution, Griselda was happy with what happened, as she assured that with the death of the little boy, both were even. “When he found out that we had gotten the son by accident, he said that he was happy, that they were at peace,” “Rivi” Ayala told the police.
“When they returned to Griselda and told her that they failed with Jesus but killed her son by mistake, she was ecstatic. She said ‘Well, that’s what she deserved, she rejected my son, what better way to get revenge than to kill her son?’ That is the type of cruelty and behavior that Griselda had,” Andreu reflected.
