Gustavo Baabour went on air on TN Central via video call to express his emotion and joy after the Hamas terrorist group released family members who had been taken hostage.
“The feeling is first of joy, obviously… it is a double sensation, because of the five relatives that the family had in the hands of Hamas, they freed three, my mother’s cousins and the daughter of one of them,” The sports journalist began telling.

However, he clarified that two of his relatives remain kidnapped: “Fernando and Luis are still in captivity, and we are obviously waiting and still waiting, so it is a double feeling of joy and anguish at the same time.”

Asked about how his family dynamic has changed since the kidnapping of his relatives, Baabour said: “At first it was a lot of anguish, very surprised, in shock. My mother, because they are lifelong blood cousins, who grew up with her, feels it in a different way, but the whole family is very shocked.”
“Later we understood that we were not going to do anything from here. It was not a question of taking a plane and going, beyond the fact that there were many Jews who did it, we had our role from here, mine as a communicator was to help in that way, to communicate, to explain what was happening and to ask daily for them,” he added.
And he clarified: “Not only for my relatives, I am anguished for the more than 150 who remain captive. They are civilians who, in the middle of a massacre, on October 7, 52 days ago, were taken hostage.”

Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, he concluded: “They have held a hostage for ten months who is Argentine. Now we found out that they were in the hands of another terrorist group, so the anguish is tremendous, because you don’t know what can happen, you don’t know what these people can get away with who clearly have no soul, no humanity, and who grabbed “All these civilians and our family members are hostages.”

Gustavo Baabour said that the situation has the entire Argentine community in Israel very concerned. “Yesterday (early October) I was in the temple with my rabbi and he couldn’t hold back his tears.
