The segment of crossovers and SUVs is gaining popularity in the Russian market, with a share of more than 65% over the past six months. These cars are also in demand on the secondary market. However, when choosing a used SUV, it is important to be careful to avoid buying an unreliable vehicle. Maxim Ryazanov, technical director of the Fresh automotive marketplace, shared with the RG publication his opinion on crossovers that are better not to buy on the secondary market.

He mentioned that German crossovers Mercedes-Benz GLK, released from 2008 to 2015, often cause dissatisfaction among Russian drivers. The main reason is problems with the timing chain drive, leading to valve malfunctions after 100,000 km. U Volvo XC60 with mileage problems arise with petrol two-liter engines after 150,000 km, and Nissan X-Trail CVT resource Jatco JF016E depletes already at around 80,000 – 100,000 km.

Ryazanov also emphasized the importance of choosing a reliable seller. If a used car undergoes a thorough technical inspection, including more than 250 diagnostic points, and the seller honestly reports any deficiencies found, the buyer avoids the risk of unexpected repair costs. Thus, the buyer can make an informed decision about the profitability of purchasing such a car.
