When independent Swiss watchmaker H. Moser & Cie. introduced the Streamliner in 2020, it stepped directly into the highly competitive arena of integrated-bracelet sports watches. Rather than leaning on conventional angular tropes popularized by legendary designers, the brand carved out a distinct identity with fluid, sculptural lines, an organically shaped bracelet, and signature gradient fumé dials. Six years later, the collection has grown to include chronographs, perpetual calendars, tourbillons, and minute repeaters. Now, the manufacture is shifting focus away from complex mechanics to redefine proportions with the newly announced Streamliner Two Hands models.
Proportions and Redesigned Cases in 34mm and 28mm
Until this release, the smallest watch in the Streamliner lineup was a 39mm Small Seconds, with complicated variants stretching up to 42.3mm for the Perpetual Calendar. The new additions challenge those dimensions entirely. The Streamliner Two Hands arrives in 34- and 28-mm cases, representing the most compact executions of the collection to date. Rather than simply shrinking existing geometry, the case architecture and ergonomic steel bracelet were completely redesigned to maintain a comfortable, secure fit on slender wrists.
The mid-sized version measures 34.2mm in diameter and stands 9.7mm thick, dropping to 8.1mm without its slightly domed sapphire crystal. The petite version measures 28.3mm by 8.9mm thick, or 7.5mm excluding the crystal. Despite their reduced scale, both watches retain a rugged 120-meter water resistance rating, a screw-down crown, and a screw-fastened sapphire display caseback. The exterior finishing maintains the collection’s hallmark contrast, pairing radial brushing on the top bezel with satin-finished case sides and a polished bevel.
Minimalist Fumé Dials and In-House Automatic Calibers
In keeping with the brand’s minimalist design ethos—frequently showcased in its brand-less Concept models—the dials on the new Two Hands references strip away all superfluous distractions. There are no hour markers, minute tracks, or logos, leaving only the Super-LumiNova-coated hour and minute hands. The dial surfaces feature a hand-engraved frosted texture stamped into brass before receiving a gradient lacquer fumé finish. The 34mm steel model (ref. 6400-1200) displays a bright silver fumé dial, while the 28mm variant (ref. 6410-1200) showcases a deep burgundy fumé dial. Both watches retail for CHF 21,900 (excluding tax), according to Monochrome Watches.
Mechanically, these smaller watches avoid relying on quartz or simplified movements. The 34mm model runs on the in-house HMC 400 automatic caliber, measuring 29.6mm by 3.9mm with 115 components and 27 jewels.
Collaborative Experimentation With The Streamliner Pump
Alongside the Two Hands collection, the Swiss manufacture utilized Watches and Wonders to debut an unexpected partnership with sneaker brand Reebok. Each press of the vivid orange rubber button—positioned at the eight o’clock mark on the case side and labeled “The Pump”—manually winds the movement to add an extra hour of power reserve, up to a maximum of 74 hours.
The watch includes an arc-shaped power reserve indicator at eight o’clock, Globolight-filled hands, a screw-in crown, a titanium caseback with a sapphire display window, 10-atmosphere water resistance, and an integrated rubber strap matching the case color.
Shifting Market Demands for Compact Mechanical Timepieces
The introduction of sub-36mm automatic sports watches reflects a broader transition across the luxury watch sector. Contemporary collectors increasingly favor smaller case sizes, driven by vintage-inspired versatility and a departure from strictly gender-specific designs. While several independent maisons have re-explored smaller dimensions, developing dedicated automatic calibers specifically engineered for cases as small as 28mm remains a rare feat.
Whether these scaled-down proportions signal a permanent shift across the broader Moser catalog or serve as a targeted exercise in proportions remains open. For now, the manufacture has proven that mechanical complexity does not require an oversized footprint.
