Halle Berry Daughter Defends Actress Against Abuse Claims

Halle Berry’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, has filed a court declaration defending her mother against child abuse allegations brought by the actress’s ex-husband, Olivier Martinez. The legal dispute follows an alleged September 26 incident and a temporary restraining order granted against Berry in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The custody battle between Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez escalated after Martinez accused the Oscar-winning actress of physically abusing their son, Maceo. Martinez claimed that during an argument on September 26, Berry put their son in a headlock and choked him, according to court documents obtained by People magazine and TMZ. The allegations prompted a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to grant Martinez a temporary restraining order on October 1.

Nahla Aubry Files Court Declaration Denying Allegations

Amid the legal fallout, Berry’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry—whom Berry shares with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry—submitted a declaration in Los Angeles Superior Court defending her mother’s parenting.

The young woman in college proceeded to respond to the claims leveled against her parent, leaving her deeply troubled, deeply saddened, and entirely dismayed. Nahla noted that her mother always made time for her and prioritized what was important to her, and did the same for her younger brother. She stated that Berry attended his games, drove him to practices and tournaments, advocated for his education and access to medical treatment and therapy, celebrated their successes, supported them through challenges, and was always there when they needed her.

“I have never seen my mom hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any way. I have never seen my mom place her hands around Maceo’s neck, put him in a chokehold, restrict his breathing, or engage in any conduct remotely resembling the allegations that have been made against her.”

She also stated that in all her years living with her mom, she had never witnessed her act violently toward anyone, and added that she had never seen her mom throw anything at anyone, not a knife, or plate, or any other object. In addition, Nahla disputed a separate claim brought forward by Martinez regarding Berry, noting she had never witnessed her mother utter racially insensitive or racially charged remarks.

Berry Rejects Accusations as Lawyers Debate Child Support

Berry’s legal team forcefully rejected the accusations.

Based on court records secured by Fox News Digital from their agreement, the actress consented to provide nearly $8,000 every month in child support for their boy, as well as 4.3 percent on any earnings she generates surpassing $2 million. Martinez’s lawyer Patrick Baghdaserians defended the recent court filing by stating that the actor’s paramount concern is the health, welfare, and safety of the minor child, and added that his second concern would be for the mother to get the appropriate help she needs to address her issues so she can better herself.

Berry Shares History of Domestic Violence

In the aftermath of the protective order and ongoing battle over custody, Berry was spotted alongside her boy and her fiancé, Van Hunt, at Sky Zone Trampoline Park in LA just days after Olivier made his shocking statements, spending an afternoon together there. Berry has also spoken publicly about the abuse her family faced at the hands of her father, sharing at a gala in 2015 that her mother stayed for too long and that she and her sister saw far too much, noting that she has suffered the damage of being a child of domestic violence.
