Hanoi rises to nearly 1,000 cases of adenovirus in one week

Weather conditions are favorable for adenovirus outbreaks, increasing the number of patients in Hanoi.

Since the beginning of this year, Hanoi has recorded 2770 cases of adenovirus positive, according to data from the National Children’s Hospital. Of these, 830 were confirmed last week.

Patients are distributed in all 30 districts and regions. Some regions recorded high infection rates, such as Hadong (226), Hoang Mai (224), Namturiam (223), Dongda (208), and Long Bien (206).

The Hanoi Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the weather in Hanoi is entering the autumn-winter transition period. Now is a favorable condition for adenovirus to spread and grow.

Officials predict that the number of adenovirus infections will continue to increase in the near future.

Last week, the Hanoi CDC also conducted adenovirus infection monitoring and prevention training at the Tan Xuan District Health Center.

The Hanoi CDC recently trained on monkeypox, another infectious disease of concern, and said Vietnam has recorded only one case in Ho Chi Minh City so far.

According to the Ministry of Health, this was a case of foreign monkey pox, and close contact with patients in Vietnam was monitored and monitored according to regulations, and no suspected infection was detected.

No cases of the disease have yet been recorded in Hanoi. However, the health sector as well as the community still need to continue to strengthen surveillance of suspected cases by case definition.

The Hanoi CDC, on the other hand, is still calling for stricter medical quarantine at the Noi Bai border gate and international airport, including temperature checks, supervision by medical quarantine officers or receiving information from people. In particular, we are actively testing flights from countries where there is an epidemic of monkeypox. This is to detect suspected patients early, apply appropriate quarantine measures from the beginning, and prevent the influx of infectious diseases.

Hand, foot and mouth disease recorded an additional 30 cases in the past week, a decrease of 7 cases compared to the previous week. A total of 1520 cases in 2022, an increase of 7.4 times compared to the same period in 2021.

Other diseases, such as measles, whooping cough and meningococcal disease, had no new cases in the past week in Hanoi. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of cases of gastric diseases decreased or showed a corresponding trend.
